I am sharing about the Enneagram on my website because I’m all about sharing things that I think are great and helpful. In my life, I have found that personality tests and anything that helps me understand myself better just adds value, beauty and peace to my life. Among other things, I have also been trained as a Behavioral Analyst and so this is right up my alley!
Last year my daughter introduced me to the Enneagram. (Enneagram means “9 sided figure or shape) It was trending in some Christian circles. However, sometimes when people unfamiliar with it hear the word, “enneagram” they get a little spooked because it sounds like the word “pentagram “which is associated with evil. But don’t worry, I’m not going to pull you into something weird.
Many Christians have been using the enneagram, this “ancient personality typing system to help people understand who they are and what makes them tick” (Cron, p.10) and using that information to help them overcome the stuff that keeps us all in a hamster-wheel of thinking and acting that interferes with our relationship with God.
So, if you’re familiar with any personality typing system like Myers-Briggs personality test, the DISC personality test, that system that Hippocrates originally devised that separated people into sanguinary, melancholic, choleric and phlegmatic then you know what I’m talking about.
The enneagram is a deep well. Enneagram scholars can spend their whole lives studying it. So, my meager attempt at sharing it with you will barely scratch the surface. I just want to pique your interest, share some resources and leave you to it. Feel free to message me if you’d like to share your experiences with the enneagram.
